*[[ June Hols till now =) ]]*

ok, I am finally blogging! haha, what a tedious period ever since Week 8-9 of Term 2... Hmm, so many things happened - but mainly choir activities and the Envisioning Education Conference (EEC)...heh, which left me barely enough time to study for Block Tests (BTs)...but overall, had a very eventful hols...

1st week of June I went to run for Activity I/C for Fac Comm...LOL! They made the interviewees sit on this structure that was about 5 chairs high...lol... Was quite nervous, and spoke loads of crap during the interview. I just kept repeating something about "enjoying the planning of activities" which absolutely had no substance at all. Maybe I didn't believe enough in being in the faculty committee and was having doubts about whether I could cope if I got into choir EXCO, so... I didn't sound or even look convincing enough to be in the fac comm. heh. Oh well anyway I think by now you should be able to tell that I had failed to get into the comm... but it's ok la, perhaps it's a blessing in disguise that I didn't get in coz I'd have too much to cope with... not that my academics are even surviving well...

Well, the fac comm interview was a blessing in disguise also because I was having my interview for choir EXCO just 2 days later... so it kinda cured my nerves for interviews... I was definitely much more confident for the choir EXCO interview as compared to the fac comm interview, heez...I'm not sure why, but although the first batch of choir people who were interviewed kept "complaining" that our seniors who interviewed them (e.g. Sua Ning and Emmett) made them feel very intimidated, I didn't seem to feel the solemn mood that much... and least it didn't manage to affect me very much such that I was calm enough to craft my answers... Usually I would just blabber on about whatever that comes to my mind, which is very risky... lol. Hmm, anyway it was a really difficult decision whether to run for secretary or scores manager... Most people will unknowingly go "Run for President!" ahah.... but somehow I didn't even dare to try for secretary coz I know that Zoe was kinda already the "confirmed candidate"... (nothing against anyone ok) yeah, many people dun understand why I run for a small post. I duno how to put it...but it's something like I know my position/ where I stand in the choir... I just feel right being a scores manager. lol.

hmmm results came out on 12th June (Monday)... The 10 shortlisted people after the interview round were Kai Xuan, Kimberly, Lynnette, Zoe, Ziyuan, Jason, ZhiKang, ZheXi, Suet and I... Quite weird actually, coz there were 7 positions for us to fill, so most people actually had no rival for their post...heh. =p Gosh... anyway out of the 10 shortlisted, 5 were from NY choir lar... crazyy... so lopsided. hmmm. ok, anyway we had to give a speech, which was really embarrassing coz very impromptu, then I just talked crap... again. =X oh well, gd experience... haha...Never really spoken using a microphone before. Sounds really weird. =p Yeah, then votings were conducted and results were announced on the same day... and I really did get the scores manager post! =) hehe...ok la, the post isn't all that important... but somehow, I feel that I want and I need that post... in NY choir, I always felt like I wanna contribute more... (I think lots more people are like that too) ya all of us were as passionate as each other.... but like we weren't given much chances to contribute to the choir in other ways other than actively participating in outings/gatherings or helping in farewell for seniors.... I duno. In secondary school, choir was more like for personal growth. But now in JC, while choir still helps me develop myself individually, I feel that I wanna DO something FOR the choir... sometimes I just feel very irritated that I am not anything lar. not that posts are all that important, but let me ask you frankly, who doesn't want some recognition? just a bit? some people ask me whether I was a councillor in NY... asked me whether I had any post in my CCA... whatever I duno. But I can tell you I wasn't a single thing at all... not even in the class committee... just a mere subject rep (and this is only because everyone has to take up a post in class)... but yah I was really nothing~ lol. so maybe that's why I try to show my passion and will to do things in JC more obviously... try to be more thick-skinned and stand out a bit? =S k nvm...

Anyway, yeah right now I'm really satisfied being the Scores Manager...coz I get to work with Lynnette (Welfare Rep) and Zhe Xi (Equipment I/C)!! We work really well together! haha... 3 of us are known as the Resource Managers (RMs) in general, so in other terms, we get to work with each other very often! =) hehez... They're such fun people! Especially Lynnette! coz we were OG mates after all and we were considered rather good friends in our OG... =D hehez... really glad that we have "come together" again... haha =D Currently, one of our aims is to ban Jonathan Kee from the choir room! *ahem*zhexi*ahem* please no basses conspiracy! hahaha.

lalala, ok very luan4, let's talk about SYF Recording!!! haha... it's really cool experience to go for SYF recording coz it's really very rare that you can actually go to the recording studio to record songs for official use. =) haha... very fun!!! We met the Singapore Idol (is it? I'm very blur =p), Iskandar, who helped us with the critiquing of our songs...Quite cool, he seemed really impressed with us! haha....=) Each section had a microphone each which we had to stand around so that our voices could be captured by the microphones... It was quite tough at first because the microphones were very sensitive and could pick up any wrong sounds (such as split notes or the flipping of our scores), so we had to keep recording certain songs... But thanks to technology, we were able to just re-record segments of the songs... and certain pitches that were slightly off could be tweaked to perfectly complement the background music... =p hehe! Oh yeah, for those who went for the SYF Opening Ceremony 2006, the voices that you hear are HwaChongChoir's Voices!!! All proof of our 2 weeks of hard work at the SYF recording sessions!!! *EGO* haha...=p

Hmm Choir Farewell 2006 for our seniors was on 16th June (Friday)... It was a really touching moment... So many people were crying, even dear Benjy and Emmett! Gosh... It's really heartwrenching to see all the seniors in such intense sadness and trying to accept the fact that they were all gonna leave each other... hmmm... we juniors sacrificed our entire 3rd week of the holidays to prepare a wonderful farewell for our seniors, such as the decoration of the hats and writing messages on XXL underwears (for the basses OMG lol...) hehe... Anyway, on the day of the farewell itself, although we did things like singing songs for the seniors, showing the video that we prepared for them (Thx Zhong Wei!!), etc, I think the most memorable part was when the seniors carried out the tradition of 'cutting strings'... Everyone would sit in a circle...and there would be a ball of string which each person had to pass on to the person that they wanted to thank... hmm, suddenly we see all the overwhelming emotions within our seniors spilling out, it was a really touching scene. People whom we didn't expect to cry actually did...which just made our hearts ache. heh... really wonder how our farewell will be like next year if watching our seniors leaving already makes us cry...Can't imagine leaving our batch...=(

Okiez... Enough of choir stuff... haha, shall now move on to talk about the Envisioning Education Conference (EEC) which was conducted on the 2nd week of June from 6th to 10th June 2006. I think the best part of the conference was working with the OT =p Seriously, it's isn't everyday that you get to meet such a nice group of people altogther. haha...Thanks Yi Da for inviting me to join the OT! hahax... Definitely had loads of fun with people like Nicholas, Eric and Yuan Jun =p

Hmm oh well, after an eventful 3 weeks of the June Holidays, I spent the last week mugging for Block Tests... mostly in school and at the National Library =p Yeah and I really have to thank Wayne for helping me so much!!! (oh yeah I still owe you a lunch, don't I? =p) I'm really really grateful that you were there to help and be such a great teacher (Tiger Ho) lol... and of course all yr encouragements that helped me survive the mugging week AND the Block Test week... gosh. the worst day was the day just before Math test. We actually stayed all the way till 12am with De Pin, Hao Ran and Timothy trying to figure out what maths was all about. and yeah of course I still failed the next day. omg I'm a really poor student, but I guess...couldn't have expected much better either coz I ain't brainy anyway. =(=(=(

bleugh...anyway everyone was so glad when the string of Block Tests ended on Friday! =) haha... Such a big load finally lifted... =) haha, and for the 2nd time this year, I finally met up and went out with my sec 4 classmates!!! hehe Lim Mian, Genevieve, LiLin, Tammy and JiaLin and I went around Orchard shopping... haha, ok I didn't really shop, and neither did Lim Mian, so we actually found much quality time talking and catching up with each other! =) hehez... Really missed her like crazy... hmmm then at night, I went to watch this concert by Budak Pantai, the 1st local a cappella group formed. They were REALLY GREAT! Their songs were full of originality and it really portrayed the creative and artistic side of Singapore coz their songs were full of the local flavour... it's v courageous for a group to dare to compose such music, and I'm really glad for them that they have come such a long way. Hopefully, our local music scene will be much more widely accepted and promoted in the near future!!! =p haha, thanks to BingCheng for inviting us to this concert!! =)

------------------------------------------------

ok, FINALLY - something I can't miss out - 06S76's 2nd class chalet of the year!!! haha...YAY! Our class is so full of spirit and enthusiasm I duno what to say... hahah... There's really no need to be afraid of attendance problem at all... I think this time about 20 out of 26 people turned up, which was about the same as the 1st chalet at Aloha Changi... haha, I'm so proud of us!!! =p Anyway, the last time I didn't manage to stayover at the chalet... so this chalet was kinda my first time actually having chalet with the class =p my gosh, it was really fun and eventful!!! HAHA. Within the 1st 2-3 hours of arriving at the chalet, we found ourselves COLOURED (coloured red). HAHAHA~! omg... Believe it or not, everyone's faces were flooded with lipstick such that we looked like we were diseased... GOSH. HAHA. Especially Leon and Willis HAHA! No idea how a forfeit could turn into something so horrendous... I guess the only plus point is that this 'activity' is the most unconventional one I've ever known in my life. >< MASS MAHJONG during the chalet (thanks to Jason)... lol, now almost our whole class knows how to play mahjong already =p Next time we can not only hold interclass, but also intraclass competition! so fun, go swimming together... (oh yeah our PE module this term is really swimming!? =( Maybe we could play mahjong instead lar, another form of swimming anyway lolx) lalala...

At night we went to the beach to have our dinner and play with sparklers =p so cool... hehez...=) the guys managed to tie up many sparklers together and burn them altogether such that we created a mini campfire at the beach =p hehez, how creative right! =p then we ended up throwing sparklers, that have almost finished burning, into the sea... it was a really beautiful sight!!! hahaa... like shooting arrows with fire =p lol... Oh yeah we celebrated Christine's and Jin Xuan's birthday!!! hahah damn funny, Willis slapped Jin Xuan's face with the entire cake, so we ended up playing with a lot of cake...and some people just bathed lah...haha, can you imagine their irritation (gekness)? =p hehe, anyway we did buy them a back-up cake la... ahha, we're such a nice class lol. hmm...after that we brought pillows and blankets out to the beach to sleep la...lol...crazy. but v unique experience =) you can't experience this anywhere esle man, unless you are living the 06S76 life. wheeeee~

Hmm halfway through in the night the sea started to get pretty rough... All of us were shivering in the cold while sand was being blown into our faces. lol...fortunately we got back before it really started to rain. Thereafter we spent a comfortable night in the air-conditioned chalet... haha... Apparently, DePin and Willis braved the storm under some blankets at the rocks by the sea. LOL...They're insane lah! ahhaha...

Hmm didn't really sleep much I guess, but it was adequate... about 3hrs... Think I got up around 6.15am to find Wayne still up and to realise that he hadn't slept at all the entire night =/ No idea how anyone can do that...=S heh... then Jason, Wayne, Lujie and I went for a morning stroll...lol. Quite relaxing =) We walked all the way till the end (but Wayne had to turn back halfway coz he needed the toilet or something)...then we went to the rocks to just sit by the sea and watch the tiny waves gently sweep up onto the rocks...and rejoining the sea again...felt v soothed while watching and listening to the rhythmic waves in silence. It was a little awkward though =S coz 3 of us were just kinda stoning... I think... each of us lost in our own worlds? I was like half-conscious, half-stoning... and yeah I knew wht Jason was probably pondering about...As for Lujie I have no idea lol. He shared mp3 with me so 933 became our background music, probably the only thing that kept me half-conscious...

In the afternoon we went to cycle!!! =) finally...lol. Really enjoyed the entire cycling trip... We cycled around Pasir Ris Park...Xin Yi learns very fast!! Haha, I'm really proud of her!! coz it was only her 2nd time cycling ever since she learnt biking (and that was only last year)... hehe... hmmm oh yeah then the last part was really SHUANG3 coz Lujie, Jason, Deanna and I just sped all the way back! hahaz... damn fun =) It feels really good to feel the breeze brushing past your face... hehez.

Anyway the class is crazy! hahaha most of them really didn't sleep the entire of the 2nd night at all... First we played charades! Willis was BRILLIANT at acting! lol... super amusing... Then QingYan and Xin Yi got targetted at - QingYan for her proness, Xin Yi for her 'proness' as well. oops. hehehe! k la jkjk =p Thereafter, we played murderer (the one involving the squeezing of hands) and polar bear... haha, quite fun la, I kept getting the 'ace' card, which meant that I was playing the role of the murderer, so quite thrilling la... hahax... duno why but I always felt very nervous whenever I was the murderer coz everyone was staring really intently at everyone and were very sensitive to any form of movement. And so sad DePin beside me with his BIG hands ahahha... I didn't dare to pass the pulse to him! coz he'll pass the pulse very obviously! haha...=p k la, overall quite exciting, coz we had detectives killing each other off somehow... LOL! Hehe, after that most of the class went for supper and borrowed bicycles from WenWei's ex-class 4B to cycle throughout the night...Jason, Lujie and I went to the beach to sleep though...Lujie only had to play one song on his hp before all of us almost instantly fell asleep...or rather, Jason and Lujie fell asleep. Then Jason started snoring... then Lujie started snoring... LOL. So that made it quite a challenge to sleep haha...moreover I was in the middle of them both so that made things worse. k la, I was half-sleeping coz too tired to care le... but another factor was that the environment was too cold! =( No idea how Jason and Lujie can survive it... esp JASON. lol. slept so soundly argh. Lujie was quite amusing, he woke up halfway and started to dig the sand before going back to sleep almost immediately, satisfied with his handiwork (a pile of sand) =S

hmm for the last day, we couldn't do much, so there was a mass mahjong session all over again...hehe, too bad had to leave early coz needed to go to school for CCA...hehez. So I took the train back with Lujie... hmm at first I thought that it would be awkward coz only 2 people but wasn't v bad la, managed to keep the conversation going all the way from chalet till I got off... Hmm at least now during chalet then get to talk to Lujie more...and I'm glad people don't niao us anymore (well, a lot less...) coz (urgh), I duno, v embarrassing lar. Then also last time found it v weird to talk to him, but now I think it's better... at least comparable to before we were being niaoed...yea..=)

lalala. Hope we have another chalet at the end of the year =)
