HELLO! :)
I'm finally back from my holiday trip to New Zealand with my family! :) and I have to say that I'm really glad to be back. Not that I didn't enjoy the trip, but I think it was a wee bit too tedious and draggy due to the long journeys on the coach to our faraway destinations over the mountains and across the plains. Aside from the short tours, the trip was based on a simple and mundane routine of eating and sleeping. Really, I have to admit that it was tons relaxing... but it definitely isn't the best formula for people trying to lose weight. About half the day was reserved for sleeping due to the simple fact that there isn't very much to do on the coach. Reading and playing cards are really appealing at first, but I guarantee you that you'll finally give in to the immense grogginess in your head after a mere 10 minutes or so. Looking out of the window isn't a very promising idea either, because after getting stunned by the wondrous scenery of mountains and grasses for a while, you'll realise in no time that what you're going to see for the next 4 hours on the bus are mountains and grasses too. Therefore, logically speaking, sleeping is the ideal choice. Thus, I slept. TOo much. This lady in my tour group even praised me for being such a great sleeper! Don't know if that is good or bad news. ><
ok I'm not going to go into the DAY-BY-DAY recount which most people do because I really can't be bothered to go into that much detail. Blogging is tedious. I guess I shall just highlight some of the more important events. Hmm we spent 6 days in the Southern Islands and 2 days in the Northern Islands. yup. In the Southern Islands, we travelled from Christchurch to Queenstown to Milford Sound and Fox Glacier and back to Christchurch again. In the Northern Islands, it was just a day in Rotorua and another in Auckland.
The most memorable thing I did was to take a helicopter up to Fox Glacier itself! haha.. It's my first time travelling by helicopter. Really thrilling! heh... The glacier was beautiful! It's just white and pure white and endless white against the brown rocks... Really reminds me of vanilla and chocolate ice-cream...yumyum. Anyway I thought that the snow would be soft like those I see on TV shows...so it came as a surprise that when I touched the ground, it was solid hard ice. yeah and we couldn't move around too much since the ice was slippery, so we just took a couple of photos and flew back. =p
